Who owns the White House? Well, we do. And who is this "we"? Well, you know, "We, the people." The White House is "our" house. It belongs to the citizens of the United States of America. Our current president, as we learn daily, doesn't acknowledge that fact. He acts as if HE owns the White House. He acts as if HE makes all the decisions. He acts as if HE is the government.
He's not. Check out our Constitution, if you would like to refresh your recollection of how our system of self-government is structured.
You'd be pretty mad if someone came along and tore down your house, never asking permission, and never even informing you that the destruction of your house was being contemplated. Aren't I right about that? You'd be mad even if you were just a "renter," not a titleholder, and "We, the people" are actually the "titleholders" in our system of democratic self-government. We are not "at will" tenants.
The reason that people are out on the streets, in the millions, announcing "NO KINGS," is to make clear to our elected representatives that they are elected to represent US. Who is this "us"?
Well, you know, "We, the people."
So, let's start acting like we're in charge. If we don't, then we're not.
How do we start acting like we're in charge? We form up in small groups, and design and implement efforts, in which we are personally involved, to demand that our elected representatives stop acting like they're not in charge of our government. They are, on our behalf.
On our behalf? Yeah, on behalf of "We, the people."
No one is going to be able to take self-government away from us, no matter how many masked ICE agents show up in our neighborhoods and city centers.
But can we just give it away by non-action? By non-action even when provoked? By non-action even when some unentitled pretender starts tearing down OUR house?
Yeah, that'll work. If you let someone tear down your house, command central for your government, and you just watch it happening, well, that is the way we lose self-government.
Pay attention!
Someone is tearing down our house!
