Jake Halpern and Michael Sloan are the co-creators of a New York Times comic strip about refugees called “Welcome to the New World.” Halpern is a contributor to The New Yorker and This American Life, and Sloan is an award-winning illustrator. Their comic strip now appears in book form, as indicated by the illustration, above.
On September 21, 2020, The Times ran some of the panels from the upcoming book, with an introduction by Sarah Bahr. I have picked out three of them, below:
This isn't an exercise for immigrants, only. Don't we sometimes forget that what this little comic book says is absolutely true?
