#260 / Analogy

Analogy is a cognitive process in which information or meaning is transferred from a particular subject (the analogue or source) to another particular subject (the target).

This explanation comes from the Wikipedia entry on "Analogy."

These images come from the Facebook page maintained by the "Universe Explorers." The pictures provide a great example of the workings of analogy. Suggestive correspondences we discern in the world around us may have meaning. Such correspondences, in other words, are worth "thinking about," which is just a more common way of saying, "utilizing a cognitive process."

The pictures posted on the Universe Explorers' Facebook page often live up to that "worth a thousand words" equivalency.

And then some.

Could there be some unity in the cosmos, after all?
