You have probably heard that saying, "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." If you click that link, you'll see an earlier blog posting of mine, discussing the implications of that phrase, and citing to Mahatma Gandhi.
I remembered that earlier blog posting when I read a New York Times article about the war in Ukraine. In the hardcopy version of the article, the headline read "A Tit For Tat!" Same message as my earlier blog posting, I think. And some wise advice, too.
In terms of whichever phrase you'd like to use, in thinking about what's happening in our world today, let me suggest that a number of observers have come to the conclusion that the next "Tat" that counters the next "Tit," is going to take us into World War III.
Believe me, when we all, all around the world, are looking into the light provided by exchanges of nuclear weapons, the whole world is going to be blind, indeed!
