One statement in the article captured my attention, and I just couldn't help but comment. Here is what that article said about Apple's ability to maintain its leadership as a company that sets the standard for the design of the electronic devices upon which we more and more rely:
In the age of AI, Apple has lost its status as the company that defines how consumers interact with devices, a title it held for 40 years, from the Apple II to the iPhone. That leaves it vulnerable to a new generation of devices built specifically for AI, which OpenAI and SpaceX are working on, for instance.
While I am certain that the kind of business challenges described above are real, I have to say that when it comes to design issues, I think I'd bet on Apple over SpaceX, any time. SpaceX has now absorbed Tesla, and Elon Musk is the "decider" when it comes to design issues relating to his companies. Here, just to jog your memory, is one of the most recent design initiatives brought into the world by Mr. Musk:
I see a few of these cybertrucks tooling around my town, and based on that experience, I am going to be betting on Apple, not Tesla/SpaceX, when it comes to the development of new devices that will appeal to, and meet the needs, of consumers.
