Reuters has, helpfully, published a "Retribution Tracker." This will allow interested persons to follow along with what it calls our current president's "campaign of retribution." Some people and institutions affected are found in the image above.
On the same day that Reuters made that "Retribution Tracker" available (November 25, 2025), The New York Times carried an article by Michael S. Schmidt that focused on the same topic, and showed how Mr. Trump "is using a whole-of-government approach to punish those who cross him."
"Retribution" seems to be a political principle that the current president believes needs to be foundational in our political life. What do you think?
I want to suggest "forgiveness" as an alternative approach.
Can we forgive our current president? Can we forgive those in Congress who have stood by and let him issue "Executive Orders" that condemn babies in Africa to death (really) and that send masked and armed men into cities who voted for the Democrat, not for Mr. Trump - and who mostly seem to have Mayors who are persons of color?
We could take a tip from Jesus, and reread "The Lord's Prayer."
We are coming up on Christmas, and I am seriously suggesting that our politics cannot prosper - we cannot do what we need to do, together - until and unless we start forgiving those who have "trespassed against us."
Lots of challenges ahead (a New Year is coming up pretty quick, too). Heading into the New Year animated by a spirit of retribution isn't going to get us to anything "New."
Think about it!
