#352 / Burned By Billionaires

Chuck Collins, the guy who wrote, Burned By Billionaires (see the image above), was interviewed in the December 2025 edition of Sojourners Magazine. I recommend that you hunt down that interview in Sojourners, particularly if you think that there is any reason not to tax those with enormous wealth, using the monies thus collected to benefit our community and society at large.

Sojourners reports that Collins was one of those people who was "born on third base," as a scion of the Oscar Meyer meat processor fortune. He decided not to live on "third base," though. Collins started reading The Catholic Worker at age 16, and at age 26 he gave away the half-a-million dollar trust fund his parents had gifted him. He now edits a website called "inequality.org." When I visited the site, I was pleased to find an article titled, "Economic Malignancy: The Swelling Wealth Share of Our Richest 0.00001 Percent." I recommend that article, too! It is illustrated by a picture of Elon Musk, dancing on the stage during one of our current president's political rallies, with our current president in the background.

"Wealth Inequality" is a real thing - and it's up to us to do something about it. The "billionaire class" is not going to give us any help with that!
