#260 / Hitchens Channels Paine

I have a considerable appreciation for the writings of Christopher Hitchens, and I am a real fan of Thomas Paine

I was delighted, therefore, to run across Thomas Paine's Rights of Man, by Christopher Hitchens, a book that serves both as an accessible and compressed biography of Paine and as a presentation of Paine's most seminal work of political philosophy.

I much enjoyed Thomas Paine: Enlightenment, Revolution, and the Birth of Modern Nations, but at 377 pages, it is a much longer book. In a short compass, you can find out what you need to know about Thomas Paine in Hitchens' 150-page effort.

I recommend it.
