#5 / Just Do It

I am no big fan of advertising, and I have mentioned that before, and in fact more than once, here on this Two Worlds blog.

Advertising signs they con
You into thinking you’re the one
That can do what’s never been done
That can win what’s never been won
Meantime life outside goes on
All around you
Bob Dylan - It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)

Despite my philosophical reluctance, I am finding myself attracted to the "Just Do It" trademark slogan of the Nike footwear company.

Too much thinking about that New Year's Resolution thing is pushing me in that "just do it" direction.

  1. Don't give yourself too much grief, Gary (if that is what you are implying here). Advertising companies colonize the motivations we already are riding. So piss on the capitalism, and ride your passions anyway!

  2. That's a great picture. That said, the reason the Nike slogan is so effective is that it is so often the right thing to say to yourself. It doesn't make you a slave of Nike to co-opt their slogan...

  4. Great Picture- feel the same way about advertising. They manipulate our deep rooted need to belong and exploit that to sell stuff to us.
