147 / The Future Isn't What It Used To Be

The San Francisco Chronicle published an article on April 10, 2010 with the title, "Manic D Press changes the world."

I am, generally, in favor of changing the world, which (despite the downsides) remains our human prerogative. And I do think that what we write down has the possibility to help transform our current reality into something different. And not by accident, either. We can make both our dreams and our nightmares "come true." Putting them down in writing is a good first step.

The first book ever published by Manic D Press was a collection of poems, The Future Isn't What It Used To Be, the title probably referencing a famous quote by Yogi Berra. That book is apparently now out of print. You can see a list of the Manic D books that are in print (and learn how you might get your own works published) by clicking on the image.

As for what Yogi Berra said about the future, here's what I think. If the future isn't what it used to be, that's almost certainly because we changed it!
