349 / Extrapolation

We talk about change, usually, in the sense of "extrapolation." There will be more people, more air pollution, fewer wetlands, more cars on the road. We think we can "learn" about the future by observing what is happening now, and then extrapolating. As the picture suggests, this may not be the best way to design our future.
