The fox guarding the henhouse, from my perspective. The continuing efforts by government agencies to allow those they "regulate" to do it themselves bodes ill for a number of industries- it's like "self-reporting" environmental disasters. Keep in mind, however, that in aviation- particularly in commercial jet transport-computers have been running the show for many years and there are current arguments about the degree to which crews are necessary hands-on, stick and rudder pilots or simply computer programmers. The concept of an airplane without a human pilot at the yoke is not new and research (and design) is headed more in that direction. Once a jet leaves the ground, it's mostly digital readouts and confirming flight operations rather than pulling on a yoke and stepping on the rudder.I guess my point is that the 737 issue is just the tip of the iceberg, both from a regulatory sense and whether it is a "pilotless" AI world that we want- in both the sky and on the ground.Michael Kornhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09132157254879291020noreply@blogger.com
