I tried to use their web site this past year, to engage on issues of concern to me. I say "tried" because it was a fruitless exercise. We are a County of over 200,000 individuals and about 6 - 12 participate online. Furthermore, the site is tedious. One can spend a lot of time there and accomplish...what? Nothing. There are "listeners" on each issue and the listeners are elected officials. I can interact with my elected officials in a variety of ways already. That is what "politics" is -- the people. The people engaged in their government. I do not want to "hack my future." I want to be engaged in my present, which includes interacting directly with my government! So far, after the Civinomicon (where do they get these new words?) has accrued about 15 people "voting" on the ideas produced there last week.Jean Brocklebanknoreply@blogger.com
