#248 / Never Sorry

Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry is a documentary film that explores three years in the life of celebrated Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei. The film is available on Netflix in streaming video, or in a DVD version.

Ai Weiwei uses social media and art to inspire protests against the Chinese state. The documentary is engaging. The art itself is something special, and the politics are gripping.

You can follow Ai Weiwei on Twitter (this link is to his original Twitter feed, in Chinese). There is also an English version

Facing an oppressive and totalitarian political system, Ai Weiwei demonstrates an effective and nonviolent way to bring an end to power. We hope, as we watch the video, that he (and the Chinese people) will ultimately win their way free. The key methodology that Ai Weiwei employs in his fight against oppression is simple "communication," the word he most uses as he discusses what he is doing.

Speak truth to power. And make your message an artistic statement, if you can. Recommended.
