274 / Come Hungry

Today, I got to have lunch with Calvin Trillin, known to readers of The Nation Magazine as "The Deadline Poet." I was lucky enough to score one of the very scarce tickets to what I think is one of the New Yorker Festival's most sought after events. The Festival program describes "Come Hungry" as follows:

Continuing a Festival tradition, Calvin Trillin will lead a tasting walk, from Greenwich Village to Chinatown, which will conclude with a dim-sum feast.

Calvin Trillin has been a staff writer at The New Yorker for more than forty years. His gastronomic reportage for the magazine has included, in recent years, articles on Ecuadoran soup, Singaporean street food, and Texas barbecue. In the March 1st issue, he wrote about the elusive Chinese chef Peter Chang. He has published twenty-six books, three of which are collected in “The Tummy Trilogy.”

More details to follow. But I did come hungry!
